Tomorrow I depart for my 5th journey to Wamunyu,Kenya. My bags are packed full of beautiful picture books and art supplies, ready to share with my colleagues in Wamunyu public schools. Last year we made collage artworks, this year we are planning to create kinetic, wind-powered sculptures. The fabulous Maria Barbosa is joining me for the second formal professional development workshop at the Learning Resource Center. I think our Kenyan colleagues are going to love working with this former scientist turned artist and arts integration/STEAM specialist!
Thanks to Dr. Bonnie Mitchell of Mitchell Family Dentistry in Edgewater, MD, Dr. Katz, and friends of Maria, we are taking over 800 toothbrushes for the children. Look for bright, shiny smiles coming soon!
Many thanks to James Musyoka, Patrick, and Cyrus for getting everything set up for us! Once again, John Exaudi will be our faithful safari truck driver. It’s going to be wonderful!
